DESCRIPTION:If spooking is your thing and Halloween brings out the howl in you\, Calico Ghost Town may be the fright place to be the last two weekends in October for our annual Ghost Haunt: Terror Under The Big Top. The first weekend of ghost haunting starts Friday\, Oct. 24 through Sunday\, Oct. 26. The second weekend starts on Halloween night\, Friday\, Oct. 31 through Sunday\, Nov. 2. \nGhost Haunt hours are: \n\nFriday: 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.\nSaturday: 9 a.m. to 10 p.m.\nSunday: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.\n\nGhost Haunting activities include pumpkin carving\, trick-or-treating\, costume contests for all ages\, campsite decorating contest\, live music and entertainment shows\, gunfighter shows\, family-friendly games and activities\, haunted attractions* (includes train rides\, gold panning\, haunted mine tours\, Mystery Shack and ghost tours). *Attractions are an additional price. SUMMARY:Calico Holiday Fest
DESCRIPTION:On Saturday\, November 29\, from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.\, Calico Ghost Town will transform into a holiday festival with a photo op with Santa\, Christmas caroling and the annual tree lighting that is sure to amuse the merriest of little spirits in this picturesque Old West mining town. \nFestivalgoers can sing along or simply listen to your favorite holiday melodies. There will be a reading of the favorite “T’was the Night Before Christmas”\, contests for the whole family\, crafts for kids\, gunfights performed by our very own Calico Mountain Volunteers. \nAvoid the lines and parking nightmares at shopping malls and browse our specialty arts & craft shops for that hard-to-buy-for relative\, neighbor or friend. Some of our shops will be offering special discounts for holiday shopping. \nSanta arrives at 11 a.m. with a cheery “Ho! Ho! Ho!” for photos with the children and will light the Calico Christmas tree at 6:30 p.m. After the tree lighting\, Lil’s Saloon will be providing complimentary cookies and hot chocolate. \nThere will be plenty of festive foods available for purchase through our vendors\, Lil’s Saloon\, Silver Rush Burger and Calico House Restaurant. \nCalico will be open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Admission is $10 per adult\, $5 children ages 4-11\, and 3 years\, and under are free. \nCalico Ghost Town offers full and partial camping at the park. Reservations may be booked by calling 1-877-387-2757 or emailing parks@parks.sbcounty.gov. Cabins\, bunkhouses and RV trailer rentals are also available. \nCalico Ghost Town is located off I-15 at Ghost Town Road in Yermo\, just 10 miles north of Barstow off Interstate 15.

DESCRIPTION:Regional Parks is excited to welcome back the one-day trout derby at Prado Regional Park on Saturday\, Jan. 10\, 2026\, from 7:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Gates open at 6:30 a.m. and pre-paid derby fees are encouraged. Derby fees are $20 per person and $15 per vehicle. A fishing license is required for all participants ages 16 years and older. \nTo pre-pay\, visit https://bit.ly/3XgaY7Q. \nPRADO LAKE CLOSURE FOR DERBY STOCKING\nFor the derby\, 1\,660 lbs. of trout\, including lightning trout\, will be stocked on Friday\, Jan. 9. Due to the derby stocking\, the lakes will be closed to the public for fishing on Friday\, Jan. 9\, and will reopen to the public after the derby ends at 1 p.m. on Saturday\, Jan. 10. \nDerby cash prizes will be awarded for: \n• First place: $1\,000\n• Second place: $500\n• Third place: $250 \nParticipants will receive a wristband and packet with derby entry forms and rules. The derby is rain or shine\, and no refunds will be given. \nRegional Parks will have a weigh-in station available and encourages participants to allow plenty of time to weigh and enter their fish prior to the 1 p.m. cut-off time. Winners do not need to be present to claim their prize(s). Winners will be announced at approximately 1:15 p.m. at the Regional Parks weigh-in station area. \nPark hours are 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily and is closed on Christmas Day.
