DESCRIPTION:Join Regional Parks as we explore the Mojave River Forks after in search of owls\, glowing scorpions and other nocturnal creatures on Friday\, Sept. 12\, from 5:30-7:30 p.m. With the stunning night sky as our backdrop\, we’ll uncover hidden surprises and learn about the incredible wildlife that comes to life after sunset. This family-friendly adventure is perfect for explorers of all ages. Leashed pets are welcome too! Grab your flashlight\, bring your sense of adventure and get ready for a night to remember! Admission is $15 per vehicle (only cash will be accepted). Note: please wear comfortable clothing and shoes and bring water. The River Forks is a campground only.

With a background in computer science from Cal State San Bernardino and years of experience teaching fire science\, electronics\, and programming\, Brian brings a unique blend of technical knowledge and hands-on curiosity to the night sky. \nA proud member of the High Desert Astronomical Society\, Brian loves nothing more than sharing the beauty of the cosmos. At our event\, he’ll guide us through a tour of the stars\, answer your astronomy questions\, and ignite your sense of wonder.\nDon’t miss this chance to explore the universe with someone who truly lives to learn and inspire! \nNOTE: Mojave River Forks is a campground and we recommend dressing appropriately for the event. \nDue to the location and limited cell and Wi-Fi service at the campground\, we are only accepting cash or prepaid admission for this event. \nAdmission $15 per vehicle. SUMMARY:Stargazing Party at Mojave River Forks
DESCRIPTION:Learn more about the stars\, moon and constellations. Special guest speaker\, retired NASA Astronaut Jose Hernandez will be onsite to talk about his experience as an astronaut with NASA. Local astronomy clubs will also be on-hand to guide us through the universe. The County Library will be on-hand with their adventure bus and arts & crafts tables. \nThere will be a campifre\, activities and free refreshments\, including s’mores\, popcorn and hot chocolate\, All free while supplies last. Telescopes will be provided (on a limited basis) by Regional Parks\, astronomy clubs or bring your own telescope or binoculars. \nThe event is free for those camping with us at Mojave River Forks. \nPlease arrive early and allow time for parking. The gates open at 5 p.m. Our schedule will begin as promptly as we can. \nSchedule of Events \n\n6 PM: Welcome!\n6: 05 PM: Introduce guest speaker\, Dr. Jose Hernandez\n6:10 PM: Dr. Hernandez’ presentation/speaking\n7 PM: Enjoy refreshments\, crafts\, information\, and setup for stargazing\n9 PM: Closing remarks\n\nNOTE: Mojave River Forks is a campground and we recommend to dress appropriately for the event.
