DESCRIPTION:If spooking is your thing and Halloween brings out the howl in you\, Calico Ghost Town may be the fright place to be the last two weekends in October for our annual Ghost Haunt: Terror Under The Big Top. The first weekend of ghost haunting starts Friday\, Oct. 24 through Sunday\, Oct. 26. The second weekend starts on Halloween night\, Friday\, Oct. 31 through Sunday\, Nov. 2. \nGhost Haunt hours are: \n\nFriday: 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.\nSaturday: 9 a.m. to 10 p.m.\nSunday: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.\n\nGhost Haunting activities include pumpkin carving\, trick-or-treating\, costume contests for all ages\, campsite decorating contest\, live music and entertainment shows\, gunfighter shows\, family-friendly games and activities\, haunted attractions* (includes train rides\, gold panning\, haunted mine tours\, Mystery Shack and ghost tours). *Attractions are an additional price. Dogs can join in on the fun too as Dorsey’s Dog House hosts its dog costume contest on Saturdays. \nCampsite Contest \nCampers can also participate in our annual Ghost Haunt Campsite Decorating Contest based on the “Terror Under The Big Top” theme. \n Admission \nGeneral admission for adults (12 & over) is $15\, youth (ages 4-11) is $10 and ages 3 and under are free. The burro race is a competition featuring contestants guiding their burro from station to station across town to be the first to reach the finish line. The Bucket Brigade is a race to see whose team can scoop and pass buckets of water to fill up the water barrel first. \nFood options during the event include the Calico House Restaurant\, Lil’s Saloon\, and food vendors. Attendees can also visit Calico shops and attractions including Maggie Mine\, Mystery Shack\, Dorsey’s Gourmet Dog House shop and the Odessa Railroad train ride. Calico is pet-friendly and leashed pets are welcomed. \nThis family-friendly event embraces the life and culture of the 1880s when Calico was a bustling silver mining town from 1881 through the late 1890s when Calico began to see a steady decline in population as silver lost its value and people fled the town. \nAt the height of its glory\, the town’s population rose to about 1\,200 people in 1887\, and had about 22 saloons\, a schoolhouse\, post office\, its own version of a China Town\, a cemetery and its own newspaper. The town produced about $86 million in silver and about $45 million in borax\, hauling its product by the infamous 21-Mule Team. \nIn 1966\, Walter Knott\, the founder of Knott’s Berry Farm\, donated Calico to San Bernardino County\, which is now managed by the Regional Parks Department. \nAdmission is $10 for adults\, $5 for kids ages 4-11 and children under 3 are free.

DESCRIPTION:Join the San Bernardino County Regional Parks for a chillingly fun night at Calico Ghost Town’s campground with s’mores and campfire stories under the stars. \nCome and gather around the crackling fire\, toast the perfect marshmallow\, and listen as ghostly tales that bring the old west mining town to life. Whether you’re here for the eerie legends or just a cozy night with family and friends\, it’s the perfect way to embrace the magic of Calico. \nThis event will be held at the campground. The town will be closed for this event. We advise visitors to dress comfortably and wear comfortable shoes. Camping chairs\, blankets\, flashlights\, outside food and coolers are allowed. \nDue to the historic nature of the town\, not all areas are ADA accessible. Mines in the Calico area are extremely hazardous and must not be approached for any reason. \nAll ages are welcome\, including pets. Free s’mores will be provided while supplies last. Admission is $15 per vehicle for this event and free for those camping with us.

Other entertainment includes the Victorian Muse Theater at the Town Hall and classroom reenactment sessions from the 1800s at the schoolhouse as well as some Wild West street skits performed by the “Scoundrels Alley” Calico troupe. \nThe popular Dorsey Dog Delivery Game also returns and is a doggie scavenger hunt where owners and their furry friends search for clues throughout town to win the ultimate prize of a treat goodie bag and first-place ribbon from Dorsey’s Dog House. \nEventgoers can enjoy our fair-style food lineup with for very hungry appetites\, will be open. DESCRIPTION:Every year\, Calico Ghost Town brings together the sounds of Americana\, Blues and folk-rock together while offering games and activities for the entire family to enjoy. Join Regional Parks as Calico Ghost Town comes to life with lives bands\, such as Rose’s Pawn Shop\, the all-female group\, Lilies of the West and The Storytellers while strolling through town to enjoy arts & crafts\, face painting\, our infamous egg toss contest or see some racing hog’s and dog’s. There will be plenty to see\, such as our Victorian Muse Theatre or our schoolhouse sessions that relive what school was like for miner’s children in the 1800s. \nAdmission into Calico for the festival is $15 for adults\, $10 for youth (ages 4-11) and three and under are free. We are pet-friendly and have restaurants and stores for eating and shopping. Calico Ghost Town is pet-friendly. \nThe annual Bluegrass Festival at Calico returns for one day only on May 13\, with a musical lineup of traditional and progressive bluegrass headliners\, such as emerging L.A.-based folk-rock bands\, Rose’s Pawn Shop\, the Storytellers and San Francisco-based band Dirty Cello\, all women band Lilies of the West and more. \nThe festival blends Bluegrass music with old-fashioned activities and entertainment for the entire family. Watch the lighting fast pigs race around a track and vie for a reward of ice cream and cookies or watch our Calico Mountain Volunteer Gunfighters duel it out in live reenactments. \nThe Bon Family & CA All Star Cloggers will be performing toe tappin’ shows throughout the day. Eventgoers can experience what school was like for students who attended class at Calico during the late 1800s\, tour the famous Maggie Mine and Dead Mans Drift and learn about how silver was mined in 1881 or take a train ride through the hills of Calico. Skilled blacksmith demonstrations will be available throughout the day. There will be arts & crafts\, games and activities for all\, including the popular egg toss. \nAll town shops will be open\, including the Calico House Restaurant\, Miners Café and Lil’s Saloon. Watch videos on all the Calico shops. Other performers include Eric Gorsuch\, the high-desert band Blue Henry’s\, High D Boys and local band Billhillyz. For a full schedule of events visit parks.sbcounty.gov/bluegrass. \nCalico is pet-friendly and requires all pets be leashed at all times. Dog accessories can be purchased at Dorsey’s Dog House. \nDue to the historic nature of the town\, not all areas are ADA accessible. It is advised to wear comfortable walking shoes and clothing. DESCRIPTION:The Calico California Days event celebrates the historical timeline of the early settlements when California became the 31st state on Sept. 9\, 1850. The event will coincide with National California Day that recognizes the Golden State every year on February 22. Calico Ghost Town will host this new event with educational displays about California’s history\, games and contests for the entire family\, live entertainment\, and more.

Head to Calico Ghost Town dressed in your flannel\, enjoy some flapjacks\, get your picture taken with Santa\, and shop for those hard-to-buy people in your life at our specialty and unique gift shops. \nThis is only for Saturday\, December 17.  \nPictures with Santa are only available from 9 a.m. – 11 a.m. at the Calico Photo Studio. Participants will receive an 8’x10″ sheet OR (2) 4″x6″ sheets. \nThe package includes admission\, pancake breakfast and photos for a group of four people for $60. \nPurchase Online Tickets Here \nTickets for this special event are not available at the gate.
