Come join us to honor a cultural tradition of arts & crafts mask making for Dia De Los Muertos, while supplies last on Wednesday, Nov. 1 from 3-5 p.m. at Yucaipa Regional Park.
There are two options for mask making, decorate a paper plate with arts & crafts or make a plaster mask.
For those who decide to make a plaster mask, we’ll be making plaster of Paris masks of your face and advise participants to wear comfortable clothes that you won’t mind getting a little dirty. All ages welcome and parents/guardians must be present for children under the age of 14.
***PROCESS TO MAKING THE MASK***
This activity will entail tucking your hair under a shower cap and coating your face with petroleum jelly (Vaseline). This will prevent the plaster from sticking to your face.
This activity is not advised for those with facial hair, such as beards or mustaches, for those who may feel uncomfortable with coating your face with Vaseline and/or plaster or who have allergies to the ingredients. The plaster will need to sit and dry on your face for about 20 minutes.
All supplies will be provided. This activity is free with park admission of $8 per vehicle. Free for those camping with us.
