Calico Days brought the spirit of the Old West to life during the weekend of Sept. 26–27 at Calico Ghost Town. Take a look back at Saturday’s festivities, from the Miner’s Triathlon and Bucket Brigade to costume and pie-eating contests.
Visitors joined games and activities, explored the historic town and enjoyed live music throughout the day from Calico favorites The Storytellers, Lilies of the West, Blue Henry’s, Mojave County and Blacksmith Boys.
Old West entertainment continued with gunfighter shows performed by the Calico Mountain Gunfighters, while Pico Pistolero’s Snake Pit of Scoundrels entertained visitors with card table and street games designed to trick unsuspecting players.
Living-history demonstrations gave visitors a glimpse into everyday life in Calico during the 1880s. Odessa Red demonstrated traditional laundry methods, visitors learned how yarn was spun, and guests stepped inside the historic Calico Schoolhouse to experience a classroom lesson similar to those taught to miners’ children during the town’s silver-mining era.
