Stargazing Party at Mojave River Forks

April 27, 2024 @ 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Learn more about the stars, moon and constellations. Special guest speaker, retired NASA Astronaut Jose Hernandez will be onsite to talk about his experience as an astronaut with NASA. Local astronomy clubs will also be on-hand to guide us through the universe. The County Library will be on-hand with their adventure bus and arts & crafts tables.

There will be a campifre, activities and free refreshments, including s’mores, popcorn and hot chocolate, All free while supplies last. Telescopes will be provided (on a limited basis) by Regional Parks, astronomy clubs or bring your own telescope or binoculars.

The event is free for those camping with us at Mojave River Forks.

Please arrive early and allow time for parking. The gates open at 5 p.m. Our schedule will begin as promptly as we can.

Schedule of Events

  • 6 PM: Welcome!
  • 6: 05 PM: Introduce guest speaker, Dr. Jose Hernandez
  • 6:10 PM: Dr. Hernandez’ presentation/speaking
  • 7 PM: Enjoy refreshments, crafts, information, and setup for stargazing
  • 9 PM: Closing remarks

NOTE: Mojave River Forks is a campground and we recommend to dress appropriately for the event. Bring your own chairs, blankets and coolers as well. Leashed pets are welcome. FYI: Due to the location of the event, cell and Wi-Fi service is spotty at the campground.
