Trout Derby at Mojave Narrows

Regional Parks is excited to welcome back the one-day trout derby with our second event scheduled on Saturday, March 8, 2025, from 7:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Mojave Narrows Regional Park. Gates open at 6:30 a.m. and pre-paid derby fees are encouraged. Derby fees are $20 per person and $10 per vehicle. A fishing license is required for all participants ages 16 years and older.

Participants will receive a wristband and packet with derby entry forms and rules. The derby is rain or shine and no refunds will be given.

Regional Parks will have a weigh-in station available and encourages participants to allow plenty of time to weigh and enter their fish prior to the 1 p.m. cutoff time.

Derby cash prizes will be awarded for:

  • First place: $1,000
  • Second place: $500
  • Third place: $250

Winners do not need to be present to claim their prize(s). Winners do not need to be present to claim their prize(s). Winners will be announced at approximately 1:15 p.m. at the Regional Parks weigh-in station area.

Mojave Narrows Regional Park is located at 18000 Yates Rd. in Victorville. Park hours are 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily and is closed on Christmas Day.

Trout is stocked weekly on Thursdays with 747 pounds of trout. For the derby, 1,315 lbs. of trout, including lightning trout, will be stocked on Friday, March 7. The lakes will be closed to public fishing on Friday, March 7 and will reopen to the public after the derby ends.
